The heart motif gathers momentum with some unusual twists along the way for this season's jewellery and accessory trends.
The theme shown on this years catwalks was largely centred around hearts that Cupid himself would be proud of.
The image of the heart struck by Cupid's arrow was a reference point for this season's trend.
Pins adorned with a heart and cupid's arrow gave a new look to the military style medal while clean, cut metal arrows gave them a modern and sharp look. The arrow motif also fits in very nicely with the winter medieval tendencies for fashion.
A recurring scene on this summer's catwalks was the heart. In the form of either discs or outlines used by Marc Jacobs, or with nuts and bolts such as Luella's heart bib necklace.
Religious 'ex voto' iconography was also a big this year, with Jean-Paul Gaultier using hearts and 'ex voto' iconography throughout his collection.
Giambattista Valli meanwhile used the Mexcian holiday "Día de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead) as inspiration for his collection of playfully macabre skeleton/heart necklaces and pins.
Red was the colour to bring the hearts of the catwalk together. Whether it's ruby red, scarlet or crimson. Red simply epitomises love and passion.
Bags with heart-shapes on them or in the shape of hearts themselves were the final string to cupids bow. Leather, chain and metal wear were added to give the bags a slightly more grown-up appeal.

The theme was interpreted in a number of ways to create directional minimal looks, hand-crafted aesthetics and almost space-age styling.

Hearts A Flutter
Hearts also played another big theme in this year's catwalk shows. They conveyed a frivolous, girly attitude from the designers. The heart jewellery came in many different sizes and shapes.
Singularly worn, or clustered together, the heart shape was instantly recognisable. It also seemed that an altogether more graphic approach was taken on this year's catwalks.

Bangles were stacked up to give an new silhouette and bold shapes created new surfaces.
