It's all too easy to assume that you are buying items that are truly Fair Trade.  The system is so new and unregulated that largely you have to take someone's word on whether or not something is Fair Trade.

At the FunkiJunk Jewellery Company, we don't fancy or pretty up the titles of how things were made.  Some jewellery and handbags are Fair Trade, and you will see them marked up as such when you search this site.  Some items have been ethically traded.  Essentially this means that the makers of these items have been paid a fair price for their items, are paid half up-front, do not employ methods of child-labour and are treated with transparency and respect.  In short, ethically traded items have been procured in a manner in line with a product that has been branded as Fair Trade, they have simply not yet been certified as Fair Trade.

Unfortunately, not every retailer is honest about the way products are procured and some will label ethical trade as Fair Trade and so on.  The FunkiJunk Jewellery Company is all about transparency and respect and this is extended to our customers, not just our suppliers. 

At the FunkiJunk Jewellery Company we are passionate about making the world at better place, for people and for the planet itself.  We use carbon-offsetting wherever we can, including this website!  We recycle absolutely everything, including packaging, entrust all our parcels to the Royal Mail so that we are not adding to congestion on the roads and use energy-efficient technology, lightbulbs and machinery.
